Our vision
KawanHost was setup in August 2008 to provide low priced domain name registration. Many Malaysians buy their domain names from well known domain registrar or domain reseller based overseas due to lower price and their trustworthiness.
KawanHost wants to provide a reliable and trustworthy service which will appeal to a global market. Starting from Malaysia, KawanHost wants to grow into a regional and eventually a global service provider for all services related to developing and maintaing a website.
Our goal
Currently, we have less than 50 total domain names. Within our first 5 years, we want to grow to 1,000 domain names. This would mean registering or renewing about 3 domains a day.
Our strategies
We actively seek out low cost domain registrar and sign up as their reseller. We will pass on the savings we get from our registrar to our customers in order to attract more customers.
Currently we are domain reseller for:
- Public Domain Registry (top 10, more than 2 million domains names, based in India).
- (coming soon) UK2 Group (more than 160 thousand domains names, based in Gibraltar which is a British overseas territory).
We operate with very little overhead to keep prices low. Payments can be made via online bank transfer which has no transaction fees. Bank transfer is also suitable for Malaysians who don't trust using credit cards online or just don't have a credit card.
Our working hours
Registering a domain name is as simple as signing up a free email or some social networking sites, except that payment is needed. As we are still a low volume seller, you can get your domains registered on weekends or at night after work and not have to do it during some fixed working hours.
Anytime we are online, we can process your payment. It's more like a buying something from a friend rather than buying from a sales staff who works in an office during working hours.

Our ethics
Selling a domain name requires year-long commitment or as long as the domain name stays under your reseller account.
We only select Registrars which are reputable and follows the policies set out by ICANN to protect domain owners. You can be sure that the domain names registered with us:
- will be registered and owned by the customer
- will have access to the EPP key (auth code, security code, password) needed for transfer out
- can always be transferred out subject to ICANN and Registry policies
- will NOT be registered to a Registrar that imposes disadvantages terms to domain owners, such as having to wait 60 days after the WHOIS data was updated, ICANN policy specifies 60 days from the last transfer or registration.
Our customers
Malaysians who registers their domain names with overseas services will find switching to us appealing as we keep our prices low. Customers who have many domains may want to diversify their service provider as a safety precaution. KawanHost can be 1 of 3 different domain seller they use.

Our name
The word "kawan" in the Malay language means "friend". Even though I am a software programmer, the first time I tried to setup a website, I realized there's a lot to learn. My first reaction was to ask my friends. Likewise, KawanHost objective is to be the place to refer to when someone decided that they want to create a website.
